NOTES ON THE ABOVE

I have lumped together here what may essentially be called black music, although some people may not agree with that classification. It's only a convenient label and reflects the wide variety of styles in which black music was presented in the early seventies, from the outright trashy Fascinating Rhythm with the (white?) girl wearing a skin tone much darker than her natural colour, to the rather bland Ice Explosion. But the one I dig the most is Disco Strings of Cloud 9 with the great car and the bird. Girls and cars are always a winning combination with me, and this is pure seventies, in a great blaxploitation style. Check out also the cover to Smash Hits Supremes Style. Another winning classic. And who cannot like the great looking girl on the Ecstasy cover. Pure Heaven. The cover to Like Young, Like Blue is a gatefold. See here for full pic. Note also, the covers for Man it's Reggae and Boogie Woogie Explosions are exactly the same, even though they're two totally different records. Also, Blues & Brass is pretty similar with the black chick, and showing plenty of nipple. I prefer the pic on the back of the cover of Black Gold, as she looks far sexier: see what I mean. Note the woman on the cover of Reggae Tight; the upper part of the nipple is just visible.
