Box sets were a cheap and handy way of re-packaging old and out of date music in a new format with new covers, some obviously designed to attract new listeners. The main proponent of this format was Reader's Digest. The above are just a few examples. The model on the cover of the Best of James Last box is Beverly Pilkington who was very popular in the early seventies, appearing on many covers, like Top of the Pops, and featured in the Big D nuts campaign.
